Finally got the 3V swapped New Edge Mustang out to the track. For those who haven't followed along, I started this swap in the winter of 2021. I picked up a 3V 4.6 from a 2005 Mustang and had planned on just swapping it into the car for a quick, simple 100hp bump over the 2V. Unfortunately, when I got into the motor, I found a bent rod and bad cylinder heads. So, I rebuilt it from the bottom up with forged rods and pistons. Ported the heads and installed stainless steel valves and comp cams 127500 cams. With part and machine shop delays it took me until the end of 2021 to get it built and in the car. I got it tuned on the dyno just before the snow flew. This past winter, I made some suspension and chassis upgrades including through-floor subframe connectors with full length connectors on the bottom side of the car, Maximum Motorsports K member, A-arms, HD torque arm, panhard bar, HD rear lower control arms and 375-440# rear springs. I also put in a Corbeau bucket seat and a Sparco steering wheel. The car feels absolutely incredible now and I knocked 5 seconds off my lap times at Waterford Hills from my best in 2021 with the 2V and mostly stock suspension components. But, as you can see in the video, I'm leaving time on the table all over the place. They're decent laps, and I'm happy with my progress, but I know there are much better laps in the car. I just need to hone my skills as a driver. I wish I had watched some of my own footage on the day to realize that if I'd chill and focus on the braking zones and staying on the line, the lap times would come. Instead, I was focused on driving fast and made mistake after mistake- overspending corner entry's, over-rotating the car, braking late/early. You'll see all of that! So, I'm considering this the official start to my track driving career. I now have a vehicle that performs well on the track and the limiting factor in my lap times is me. I hope you enjoyed the video and keep an eye out for more as I'll be sharing laps every time I am able to get to the track. The progress should be fun to watch! There's still a few things I need to do to the car. I plan on fabricating a roll bar and running 5 point harnesses. I'll need to upgrade shocks/struts at some point [I'm currently running Tokico D Spec Single Adjustable struts up front and KYB single adjustable shocks out back].
