🚴 SWW Red Group | 86km November Spin with Tailwinds & Coffee Stops There was a buzz in the air as the SWW Red Group gathered for the mandatory club photo in Kilmallock — a sense that today’s 86km route would be something special. With a westerly wind blowing, the group wisely chose to ride into it first, keeping a steady, controlled pace and rotating at the front to conserve energy. The route was flat, scenic, and for some, a first-time experience on these roads — which made it all the more memorable. Meet the Red Group Riders: Paul Finn, Big Dave Walsh, Jaclyn Joyce, Jerry Reidy, Ger Finn, Andrew McNamara, and Paul Gammell — joined later by Mike Meade at the coffee stop in Kilmeedy. The ride had its drama early on when Jerry Reidy discovered his gears weren’t working. But in true warrior fashion, he went home, grabbed his winter bike, and rejoined the crew at Roots Café. That’s dedication! Coffee Stop Vibes ☕🥐 Roots Café in Kilmeedy was the perfect halfway haven. Scones, coffee, and belly laughs — especially with Big Dave in full form. Other cycling clubs rolled in as we were mid-banters, probably wondering if we were on the beer instead of espresso! Tailwind Joy 🚴💨 After Kilmeedy, the route turned for home and the wind became our ally. Speeds picked up, but the effort remained smooth and comfortable. November cycling at its best — no full-gas efforts, just pure enjoyment. Route Recap: Kilmallock → Bruree → Athlacca → Drombeg → Banoge → Lees Cross → Ballykevin West → Kilmeedy (Coffee Stop) → Moanroe Beg → Broadford → Dromcolliher → Milford → Newtownshandrum → Charleville → Kilmallock.
