Aoraki/Mount Cook the pinnacle peak of New Zealand's world renowned Southern Alps range on its South Island. Despite a long and storied climbing history, this peak, has rather uniquely, seemingly only claimed more lives as the years have progressed and gear and techniques have evolved, and if anything, and the peak's storied history is arguably a factor in its consistent lethality.
