Shao Khan 14:14 Mega Endurance (All male ninja) 16:16 Credits SHAO KHAN PLAYTHROUGH Shao Khan is mostly the same as his appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. He gained new animations and new moves. MKT make its first appearance as a playable character without cheats, but he was previously playable using cheat and secret in the Super NES and Sega Genesis version of MK3 and UMK3. Shao Khan is the final boss of the Mortal Kombat 3 sub-series. He was also the final boss of MK2 as well. All his move from UMK3 is there, but he is now able to do a regular throw and can perform a close-range pummel that is quick and damaging. He also regains the ability to do an uppercut, a move he had in MK2. His new special move is called Grab and Smack, which consist of grabbing his opponent and punching him, sending off as far as the screen allows. He is the fastest character in the game, walking almost at the same speed as any regular character’s running. Shao Khan always appear last in any tower chosen by the player. He is extremely powerful and cheap dues to his high damaging move and priority. He is also able to block after the first hit of a combo if well-timed. One main difference with a CPU controlled Shao Khan is that his Hammer move doesn’t stun his opponent, but does when controlled by the CPU. It can also repeat the move over and over, while the player can’t do that. Unlike with Goro and Kintaro, Shao Khan can easily beat the game and accumulate flawless victory. The main reason is that his jump is high enough to avoid every projectile. His close quarter pummel hit follow by any move that knock-down is the main strategic with him, causing almost 50% damage. Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the Sony PlayStation was released in 1996 as part of Midway’s effort to bring a complete Mortal Kombat experience to home consoles. This version merges content from the first three arcade titles—Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3—to offer what was, at the time, the most comprehensive entry in the series available on a home platform. The game features a total of 37 playable characters, including nearly all fighters from the arcade versions and several secret or previously unplayable ones. Among them are Rain, Noob Saibot, and Chameleon, a hidden character exclusive to this version who randomly cycles through the palette-swapped male ninjas. Notably, Johnny Cage returns in this version, portrayed by a different actor than in the earlier games. Nearly every stage from the original arcade trilogy is included, providing a variety of familiar backdrops for combat. Each character retains their signature special moves, and the game supports multiple finishing options such as Fatalities, Animalities, Babalities, Friendships, and Stage Fatalities. A new mechanic introduced specifically for Trilogy is the Aggressor Meter, which builds up as players land hits. When full, it temporarily boosts the character’s movement speed and attack power, encouraging a more offensive style of play. While the gameplay is mostly faithful, the console’s CD-ROM format introduces noticeable loading times between rounds and occasional performance dips, particularly during transformation moves or when using characters with complex animations. Audio quality is somewhat compressed, though it remains consistent with the overall presentation. Instead, it relies on text-based summaries to conclude each character’s story. Despite these limitations, the game was well-received for the amount of content it delivered and the faithful recreation of the Mortal Kombat experience on a home console.
