🚨 MILESTONE ALERT 🚨 We have reached our 100th Episode of "For Time" with Myriad and who better to celebrate that moment with than our most-watched guests on For Time... Coach Dan and Coach Richie. Today we talk about tips and tricks for getting your fitness in as a parent (specifically as Dads for these two gentlemen). Coach Richie: "Be less attached to exactly what is you are going to get in and just get it in." Meaning: You are going to have lofty game plans for an amazing workout session. You plan on having 60 full minutes to yourself, then your child decides they don't want to take a nap that day... so you now have 6 minutes to get in a workout. Rather than saying, forget it... do a 6 minute workout and get something in! Coach Dan: "Once you find a routine, there's a new routine." Meaning: In the first year to year and a half with a new child in the home, you are in survival mode. You may find a flow of consistently working out for a few weeks during that time period, but then soon you will find out that your child's routine (bedtime, naps, feeding, etc) have changed and now your routine has to change with it. Be prepared to adapt! Coach Dan: "There's no such thing as a bad workout, just the one you DON'T do." Meaning: Control what you can control. Track your steps and gamify that. If it's only 15 minutes of movement today, then make it a solid 15 minutes and enjoy it. Get in what you can get in. At the end of the day, think of your fitness as bite-sized snacks. You can work on your mobility and movement in smaller chunks of time, rather than trying to force 60-90 minutes of free time for a "full" session. If you have 4 minutes, do a Tabata. If you have 12 minutes, do a small strict press session. Do something rather than doing nothing!
