Making a vertical split on our bee hive.

www.studiobeeproductions.com As much as I love catching swarms, I cringe whenever I catch one that came from one of my hives. When I see a swarm from one of my hives, my very first thought is, " there goes my honey from that box." For honey production, and that's what I'm trying to accomplish, you need lots of bees, and if your bees are flying off, so does your honey. Well, to discourage what the bees want to do naturally, I make what's called a vertical split to our hives. The last 2 videos I posted were parts 1 and 2 of the process, and this video, the third one, is the final in the series. On this episode, I will be removing the super and adding supers to both the one that was moved off, as well as the one that remained on the stand. Now for those who may have missed the two earlier episodes, don't fret, I'll include a link to them at the end of this description. We have some really good Swarm Capture Challenge entries this week, and one of them shows not only the swarm, but the capture as well. Also, we now have an entrant from the U.K., that's correct, all the way from across the big pond. So, for all who are interested in participating in the fun, just send your swarm catch picture or short video, preferably with your face in it along with the swarm, to [email protected] and I will include it on one of my videos. Remember, by submitting your picture, you are giving me permission to post it on my video. Thanks so much to all who have sent photos in already, keep sending them, and I'm looking forward to receiving your photo or video as well. God's peace to all.
