Elizabeth Perkins began her acting career in the mid-1980s after graduating from the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. She made her film debut in 1986 in the movie *About Last Night*, which quickly brought her recognition for her strong screen presence. Her breakout role came in 1988 when she starred opposite Tom Hanks in the film *Big*, playing Susan, a character that helped establish her as a talented actress in both comedic and dramatic roles. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Perkins built a steady film career with roles in Avalon*, *The Doctor*, *He Said, She Said*, *Miracle on 34th Street (1994), and *The Flintstones*, where she portrayed Wilma Flintstone. She was known for her versatility and naturalistic acting style. In the early 2000s, Perkins transitioned more into television and stage work. Her most notable TV role came in 2005 when she was cast as Celia Hodes in the dark comedy series Weeds*.
