Seminar on Laboratory schools: DECLAM, un projet LéA-Ife (in French)

This video is part of a series of seminars conducted by Pascale Haag at the École des hautes études en science sociales (School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, Paris) during the academic year 2024-2025. LAB SCHOOLS: AN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL MODEL TO FOSTER COOPERATION BETWEEN TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS? At the end of the 19th century, John Dewey created the first laboratory school on the campus of the University of Chicago, a model of a school attached to a university department that integrates teaching, training and educational research activities. This model, which has become widespread in North America, also exists in Asia and Europe. In the follow-up to the Erasmus+ LabSchoolsEurope project (2019-2022), a European network of lab schools has been set up, bringing together around twenty institutions. The Lab School Network’s seminar ‘Education, Innovation, Society’ at EHESS focuses on philosophical, practical and societal issues at the intersection of pedagogical and assessment questions. This year, it aims to gain a better understanding of the history and operating methods of European lab schools, and to explore the similarities and distinctive features of each of these institutions, beyond curricular issues. For the first year, each session will enable us to discover one or two schools, focusing on the way in which the development of children’s social and emotional skills is taken into account.
