Rural farmhouse renovation (Ep. 7): lime plaster decisions, insulation planning, and a few unwanted surprises. Today’s episode is very much the “thinking while doing” kind. I start off running on fumes (Noah had other plans overnight), shifting rubble, and realising the skip situation is… not getting cheaper. Inside, the playroom/reading nook the ceiling starts coming down, and we discover some mouldy lino, bitumen, and a big question mark underneath the flooring. I also end up on the phone to Rod for a sanity check on how much lime plaster actually needs removing (spoiler: not all of it). By the end, we’ve got a proper plan for the external walls... battens, sheep’s wool, woodwool board, and a fresh appreciation for how quickly “a simple day” turns into “a full strategy meeting with yourself”.
