El Centro de Artesanía de la Comunitat Valenciana inauguró la exposición “Arturo Mora, El dominio del reflejo metálico y sus matices”. Esta exposición está compuesta por varias obras donde se recoge la evolución de la obra de Arturo Mora durante los últimos años. Así como una nueva serie de piezas cocidas tradicionalmente en horno de leña. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discovered by the islamic culture, the decorative technique of the lusterware applied to ceramics appeared in Abbasid Irak during the IX century A the beginning of the XIV century, the forth sir of Manises, Pedro Boil got his state pottery workshops’ to initiate in this difficult and valuable technique, incorporating craftsmen from the Granada’s nazarian reign In Manises, the production of the lusterware reached it greatest peak in the xv century, and since then the lusterware technique has been used without interruption, being kept exclusively in Arturo Mora’s workshop for the last decades. Descendant of a linage of potters from Manises, specialists in lusterware, that go back to the XVII th century, the beginning of Arturo Mora’s professional career has it’s start in 1996. Since then he has centered his activity in the processes and techniques of the historical lusterware, to be able to reproduce it with actual materials. Josep Pérez, subdirector of the Manises’ museum attended the inauguration and didn’t doubt in praising Arturo Mora’s job, specially because of his implication in all of the phases of his productive process: preparation of the lusterware an picments, turning, decoration… The continuous investigation that Mora has realized of the proprieties of the lusterware and it’s aesthetic, made possible the replication with high fidelity of the traditional lusterware and technique he has used for the creation of the new decorative proposals based on the recreation of the reflexion of the first ages, easily appreciated in the “Persas” and “Ataurique” series. Arturo Mora’s artwork in the national field has been renowned by his participation in the restoration of the architectonic cultural patrimony and accomplishing international prestige in the exclusive shops of the museums of Victoria & Albert from London and the Metropolitan from New York.
