Every bit helps, and it means a lot to the communities affected - https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/about-us/f... -------------------------------------------- Today’s ride takes me deep into Victoria’s High Country to explore one of the classics: the Beechworth to Yackandandah Rail Trail, part of the iconic Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. I roll out from the main roundabout in Beechworth, right outside the historic GPO, duck past the Beechworth Railway Station, and then it’s wheels down onto one of the most scenic rail trails in Victoria. From there it’s mostly downhill through bushland, old railway cuttings and rolling farmland toward Wooragee, before a gentle climb sets up a fast, grin-inducing descent through the brand-new Mindful Tunnel by Drez Studios — a seriously cool art installation built right into the trail. That drops you straight into Yackandandah, where I decide to keep the legs spinning and ride the full extension out to Osborne Flat. After hitting a few treys at the local school, I turn around and tackle the return climb back to Beechworth, finishing lakeside at Lake Sambell Reserve. This trail is smooth, well-signed, perfect for gravel bikes, e-bikes or cruisers, and proves why the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is firmly on every Aussie cyclist’s bucket list — especially now with world-class public art woven into the ride.
