Drying Room Tip - Know Your Strains & Measure Water Loss (How to Dry Cannabis)

DryGair dehumidifiers help control humidity during cultivation, preventing humidity-related diseases such as bud rot and powdery mildew. However, humidity problems don't end after harvest. If gone unchecked, mold and rot can still develop during the drying phase! DryGair continues to provide the high capacity dehumidification needed to help transition from wet plant to dry product, without losing any of your crops to diseases. The best way to efficiently control humidity in drying rooms, is to know exactly how much water evaporates. DryGair's tip is to measure the water loss of your strains throughout the drying process. By knowing how your crop behaves throughout the drying process, you will be able to spec out your drying room's dehumidification needs. We recommend taking a sample of freshly harvested wet matter and using a simple scale to measure its weight. Check back in every few hours to measure and log the real-time weight of the crop, in order to see how much water the post-harvest material is losing and how fast it is losing it. Do this until you reach the final dry weight. From our experience, most of the water is lost at the very beginning of the drying process. During the first 48-72 hours, we see a significant drop in the weight of the plants. This is because the plant is freshly harvested and is still transpiring similarly to before being harvested. Once you know how your strain behaves, you can anticipate how much water will be released when your drying room is at full capacity. Always plan the drying room's dehumidification capacity based on the maximum level of water released by the plants, at the beginning of the drying process. In this way, you can guarantee that your dehumidifier will be able to handle the high levels of moisture and keep diseases away. Make sure to take into consideration instances where new wet matter is added into a room with plants that are partway through the drying process – you will need to calculate for maximum capacity water loss at all times. DryGair, originally designed for greenhouse cultivation where the plants are constantly transpiring large amounts of water, fits perfectly into a drying room setting, where DryGair's high capacity water extraction can handle the high amounts of water released in the drying process. 45 L (12 G) of water per hour (at designed conditions of 18C, 80% RH), With built-in air circulation, the DryGair system can treat the air in the drying room and help you reach the high-quality results you want. So remember! – Measure the amount of water your plants lose throughout the drying process and you'll be able to design your drying room to fit your plant's needs.
