Check back in every few hours to measure and log the real-time weight of the crop, in order to see how much water the post-harvest material is losing and how fast it is losing it. Do this until you reach the final dry weight. From our experience, most of the water is lost at the very beginning of the drying process. During the first 48-72 hours, we see a significant drop in the weight of the plants. This is because the plant is freshly harvested and is still transpiring similarly to before being harvested. Once you know how your strain behaves, you can anticipate how much water will be released when your drying room is at full capacity. Always plan the drying room's dehumidification capacity based on the maximum level of water released by the plants, at the beginning of the drying process.
