Nemonte Nenquimo's plea from Mother Earth

Indigenous Waorani activist and author Nemonte Nenquimo shares her plea to humanity in a letter on behalf of Mother Earth. ‘As a mother, I am asking you to listen to me, to respect me, to embrace me, so that I, as your mother, can give life to you’ Nemonte captures the voice of her people and the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, her ancestral homeland, as she implores us in the global north to pay attention to the screams and cries of Mother Earth - climate change. We had the pleasure of meeting and collaborating with Nemonte and her partner Mitch Anderson, co-founders of Amazon Frontlines whilst they were in the UK launching their book ‘We Will Not Be Saved’ in June 2024. In it they share Nemonte’s stories of the rainforest, the spirit of the jaguar and the courage of Indigenous Peoples to take on the courts in the fight against Big Oil.
