It explains how brain development and experiences during adolescence affect adulthood, and points to modern overprotective parenting and smartphone use as key reasons for disrupting young people's development. It also highlights how the loss of traditional rites of passage has left young people lacking the support and challenge they need to enter adult society, and proposes a new ladder structure to facilitate the transition to adulthood as a way to overcome this.
