Assassin of Youth (1938), directed by Elmer Clifton, is a sensationalist anti-marijuana exploitation film echoing the moral panic of its era. The story follows a high school girl who becomes entangled with a group of teenage marijuana users, leading her into a spiral of delinquency and social disgrace. Posing as a soda jerk, an undercover reporter investigates the gang to expose their illicit activities. As the girl’s life begins to unravel, the film delivers melodramatic warnings about the supposed dangers of cannabis. With performances by Luana Walters, Arthur Gardner, and Dorothy Short, the film blends crime drama with propaganda. I uploaded this because some people will enjoy the film. However, it goes against my personal beliefs. In my opinion, marijuana is medicine—CBD helps my son greatly, and many people use it to unwind. I believe alcohol is far worse by comparison. This one wasn't easy to colorize. I downloaded the original in low-quality SD from the archive, then upscaled it to HD using AI, with facial enhancement set to 30%. I also applied AI colorization with reduced saturation to minimize the red flash effect. Please note that AI colorization isn’t perfect—you may notice grey body parts, incorrectly colored objects, color inconsistencies, and some flash artifacts.
