SCTP protocol with multihoming enhances the robustness, reliability, and efficiency of network communications across various applications, making it a valuable protocol choice in modern networking areas such as Signaling Transport(SS7 over IP), Diameter Routing, Mobile Backhaul(N2 Interface) etc. The introduction of stateful load balancer for hosting services for these applications has introduced challenges, especially for supporting multihoming features. The problem persists with the deployments in the cloud-native platforms e.g. Kubernetes. Most of the stateful load balancers track the connection and maintain only the primary address information about the SCTP endpoints, unable to harness the full potential of multihoming.
