Watch Out ZBrush… Blender 4.5 Vulkan is Here

Blender 4.5 just got a massive upgrade with the new Vulkan backend, and I had to test how it feels for sculpting. Spoiler: it’s seriously impressive! In this video, I put Blender’s new sculpting performance to the test with millions of polygons and was surprised at how fluid the whole process feels. It’s not a direct comparison with ZBrush (that’s not the point), but it’s wild to see how close Blender has come in handling heavy meshes for sculpting. One thing that really stood out for me is how easy it is to jump between sculpting and rendering. Being able to switch into Cycles in just a couple of clicks and check your volumes under proper lighting makes the workflow incredibly compelling…. especially for concepting and quick iterations. This isn’t a tutorial on sculpting, but more of a showcase of where Blender is at with sculpting right now and why Vulkan in 4.5 is such a game-changer, which is HUGE!
