Anupam Kher calls WAVES a global platform for Creators Bollywood actor Anupam Kher praised the WAVES initiative. He highlighted India’s rich cultural legacy and the summit’s potential to boost the creative economy. The first-ever World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 initiative has been widely praised by the entertainment sector, with many highlighting its potential to elevate India’s position in the global audio-visual and entertainment landscape. In an exclusive conversation with DD, Bollywood actor and WAVES advisory member Anupam Kher shared his views on the summit’s vision and impact. Speaking about WAVES, Anupam Kher said, "I think it's going to put India—already on the world map—further ahead. It aligns with the Prime Minister's phenomenal idea of placing India at the forefront of the global entertainment and audio-visual space. The people involved, and the level of preparation, are exceptional." Reflecting on his role in the initiative, he added, "I'm on the advisory committee, and having seen the scale of this event—it’s mammoth. And it should be. If the Economic Forum is Davos, then in the next ten years people will say, ‘this is how WAVES started.’” On the creative economy and the platform WAVES offers to global creators, Kher remarked, “India’s soft power is phenomenal—very rich. I often say, we are the first to have written a book on acting, in the 4th century BC, the Natya Shastra. This summit will give economic shape to that legacy. It will reshape the world and bring so many people together." "We are in an era of collaboration," he continued. "To collaborate with people across the globe—combining economics and entertainment—will be fantastic." Emphasizing India's cultural richness, he stated, “So far, we’ve been trying to make the world understand that we can be a Vishwaguru—not by force, but through our culture. Whether it's yoga, performance arts, our 30 folk and classical forms, our music, our 22 official languages, or over 3,000 dialects and diverse cuisines—we are a rich and young nation." "In the next few years, we will truly excel in every field. The idea is not to dominate, but to lead by example," he concluded.
