Bodie and the Juvie both mantle & try and grab it - the juvie gets it and takes to the back of the nest to try and eat. It didn't eat much of it - mostly carried it around the nest squeeing as Beau was up in the nest tree. Bodie casts a pellet in the meantime (02:19) then heads to the prey but gets warned away from the juvie. Bodie waits and bides its time. A few minutes later, the juvie leaves the food on the nest and heads to the front of the nest with Bodie as they are watching Beau in the nest tree. The juvie tried to go up sunset branch at the same time Beau was dropping down to the nest for the prey (06:31) They both vie for the squirrel again only this time Bodie is the victor and has it. Bodie self feeds on it and carries around the nest as well and finally just swallows the pelt at the back of the nest. It looked like it was mostly fur & the tail but this was good practice for Bodie in snatching prey & self feeding! Good job Bodie! A few minutes later, Bodie is warm and panting so h/she opens up its wings to cool off (19:05) with the juvie standing next to him/her. You can see the pin feathers sheath's growing in on Bodie's wings still. He will need his feathers to be fully grown in to be able to fly in another 2 weeks or so - almost there!
