FIRST NEW SILENT HILL GAME IN 10 YEARS! Silent Hill: The Short Message

P.T. released in 2014 so it's been 10 years since we've had a new Silent Hill game to play so I threw myself into this very quickly and was very excited....at first. But it's pretty clear from very early on that the story is about as subtle as 15 tons of bricks smashing you in the face over and over again. And the segments where you run from the creature (especially the final segment) are the worst Silent Hill content I've ever played before. Including Book of Memories, Homecoming, and the arcade and mobile games. It's that bad. There are some bright spots - specifically the creature design, otherworld design, and the music (all of which were done by original Silent Hill artists Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka). But whoever they got to write the story and design the chase sequences did not do a good job imo. I love that we have new Silent Hill content, I just hate that THIS is it. I'm starting to think that most developers don't actually understand Silent Hill and that's why the western devs had some issues and now - that's why this Japanese team had some issues. I'm worried for the future of the franchise after this.
