I was 1 of 3 businesses back in 1991, who recognised a 2nd way to provide hot water at mains pressure, without having a pressurised cylinder (Unvented). The majority of UK homes before the introduction of unvented pressurised hot water heating systems were vented/indirect hot water heating systems, with a cold water tank in the loft and a vent and feed tank to keep the system toped up with water and expansion. This type of system needed minimum servicing, unlike unvented. The first of these 3 videos, is to introduce to home owners, the alternative to what the heating industry is trying to sell to everybody via plumbing merchants. This is my NEW updated thermal store design, replacing and old Made in China thermal store of 17 yrs old. I purchased this 3 bed house in 2000, for its roof, as after I developed my first thermal store, i found a weakness in the delivery of hot water during winter months. Unlike summer months, the cold mains to your house drops from 16c to 6c after a ground frost. This resulted in the need to increase the store temperature to 70c + to achieve 55-60c My thinking at that time, was let’s look at solar thermal as a free pre heat resource, which is how i ended up as a designer of solar thermal hot water heating systems. With the current world news on climate change, the UK hosting COP26 next month, this is a perfect time to demonstrate 30 yrs of commitment to an alternative hot water and heating system to that of burning 100% fossil fuels.
