In hernia there is a disturbance of the psychological mechanism of the circumference of the abdomen that is very well known. So when we correct the hernia this psychological disturbance is corrected to a great extent. So immediate post surgery there are a lot of stitches that has reinforced the abdominal wall and the mesh that is placed. So upto 5 weeks to 6 weeks we suggest the patients not to lift heavy weights. Only upto to 2 kgs they can lift. But later there is not much restriction to how much you can lift. It depends on your compliance. But upto 2 months I would suggest not to lift more than 5 kgs. For a woman when we operate the question is either they can lift their cooker so better is to do less quantities of food at a time and lift the small quantities of weights upto 2 months. After 2 months there is no restriction for weight lifting.
