OFFICIAL SUNDAY CEREMONY Evzones special unit of the Greek military in Athens 🇬🇷

Hello and welcome to my channel 👋 Today as it was Sunday we went to watch the official Evzones, a special unit of the Greek military changing guards ceremony. The ceremony took place at The Monument to the Unknown Soldier built between 1930 & 1932 located in Syntagma Square in Athens. It was erected to honor the fallen soldiers of the Greek Wars of Independence and all unknown soldiers who have given their lives for Greece. The monument consists of a tomb containing the remains of an unknown soldier, surrounded by a garden and guarded by the Evzones, a special unit of the Greek military. The formal version of the guard uniform is white and worn on Sundays and at official occasions. Khaki uniform is worn in summer and navy blue in winter. The changing of the guard ceremony takes place every hour at the monument and it is a popular tourist attraction in Athens. The Sunday ceremony starts at 11am. Don’t make the same mistake like we did and arrive earlier as the place gets crowded and it his hard to watch if you are out at the back.
