Abstract: In recent years, with the advent of new technologies, achieving unprecedented depths in RNA sequencing, several thousands of regulatory noncoding RNAs (rncRNAs) have been identified across the mammalian genome with diverse genomic context and regulatory functions. This has put up a pressing need for efficient and user friendly curation of such huge data with concerted effort to develop computational tools for its analysis. This has further aided towards harnessing the information spread in various rncRNA data sets to interpret transcriptome changes in different biological systems and under different conditions. In our lab, we have focussed on two versatile types of rncRNA viz. long noncoding RNA(lncRNA) and microRNA (miRNA). The integration of these rncRNA data sets, in combination with systematic literature mining and machine learning approaches have proved invaluable towards identifying potential new players, biomarkers and therapeutic targets in cancer and other diseases.
