Sig P250: Accuracy on the Double by Nutnfancy

An initial tabletop review in 2009: The Sig P250 Is a lightweight sidearm that offers an impressively light and smooth double-action only trigger. That is a good and bad affair, depending on your point of view. The good is that it provides a trigger more resilient to accidental discharge and a consistent pull (I say good gun handling prevents Ads). The bad is that, as a DAO affair, it requires good trigger skills to achieve high accuracy. A lot can go wrong with your sight picture in a long double action trigger pull. And being a service pistol, this gun could be called upon to make longer range shots, maybe 25 yards or beyond. Remember options are good and having a gun that can readily so such a task, in this POU, is advised. For me, I prefer the traditional DA/SA Sig trigger for its higher rates of fire and accuracy. Either type can be mastered and shot well with practice however. The P250 is receiving good reports from users in regards to its accuracy and reliability but it really needs to be adopted and used heavy by a PD to achieve the rock solid track record of the P220/225/226/228/229 line. It is offered in a variety of calibers (9mm compact version shown). The fire control group comprises the actual serial numbered gun and can be swapped into different sized frames and varying slide lengths. This could be an expensive proposition though as you would have to at least buy another frame. And complete caliber switch out kits are almost as much as the $600 gun (approx). As stated in the vid, the interchangeability of the P250 (and other designs) is oversold and most users will simply leave it exactly in the configuration they purchased it in. That's a good thing though because the design has lots of pluses: excellent ergonomics (great grip shape), good checkering on the polymer, fast and easy fieldstrip, good sights, simple controls, good mag release button, high firepower (up to 20 rounds in the full size!), and a superb 25 ounce carry weight. The gun is impressive on most accounts. The deal maker or breaker for most will be the high price tag (more than a Glock and many others) and the DAO trigger. If you find yourself cool with those points, the P250 will probably impress you as well. . ///////////// Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 10 of 10 at lower pricing levels (updated Feb 2012 after much shooting....see my video "Sig P250: Hall of Famer by Nutnfancy"    • Sig P250: Hall of Fame Combat Pistol ...   )
