Mojtaba Khamenei has been elected as Iran's new supreme leader following the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Khamenei. Iranian media reports that Mojtaba was selected by the country's assembly of experts. He is the second eldest son of Ali Khamenei and is believed to be around 56 years old. Mojtaba had been assisting his father for several years as a backroom manager. The late Ayatollah Khamenei, who died at 86 after leading the regime for 36 years, will be buried in Mashhad, his hometown. The transition comes amid intense US and Israeli military operations against Iran. According to reports discussed in the broadcast, the United States CENTCOM commander stated this is the heaviest bombing inflicted on any country in a generation, involving over 200 aircraft and two carrier strike groups.
