BMW recommends that the spark plugs in the BMW i8 are replaced every 30000 miles or 48000 km. By following the steps in this video, you can performed the required service maintenance and replace your spark plugs for a fraction of the cost. I suggest a Moving Blanket: https://amzn.to/2Egpmo3 --- These are the steps required to change the spark plugs: Start with a cold engine Perform the steps one cylinder at a time Remove all covers over the engine Unlock the electrical connector from the ignition coil Release the E-Torx screw from the ignition coil Pull upwards to remove the ignition coil Blow out any dirt from the spark plug shaft using compressed air Unscrew spark plugs with removal tool and universal swivel joint to prevent plug breakage Insert new plug into spark plug installation tool (tube) Do not let the spark plug fall into the shaft, to prevent electrode damage Make spark plug hand tight, then remove spark plug installation tool (tube) Use torque wrench to tighten spark plug to 17 ft-lbs or 23Nm using universal swivel joint to prevent plug breakage Reinstall ignition coil by pushing it over the spark plug until secure Insert wire connector onto ignition coil until it clicks Tighten screw on ignition coil to 6 ft-lbs or 8Nm --- Since many folks have asked if they could send me money, I decided to make online payment available.
