RECORD-SETTING SPACE STATION ASTRONAUT CHRISTINA KOCH REFLECTS ON HER MISSION Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 61 Flight Engineer Christina Koch of NASA reflected on her record-setting mission during a series of media interviews Feb. 4 with NBC News, CBS “This Morning”, the Westwood One Radio Network and WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina. Koch is returning to Earth Feb. 6 on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft making a parachute-assisted landing on the steppe of Kazakhstan. She will have logged 328 days in space during a single spaceflight, more than any woman in history, and the second longest single spaceflight by an American astronaut. Koch’s flight spanned more than 5,200 orbits of Earth and 139 million miles, roughly the equivalent of 291 roundtrips to the Moon. Koch conducted six spacewalks during her marathon mission and conducted hundreds of scientific experiments including a suite of investigations into the effect of long-duration weightlessness on the human body.
