Katter Australia Party’s Bob Katter has defended firing up at a reporter who asked if he would vote in favour of an Indigenous Voice to Parliament. Speaking in Canberra on Wednesday, Mr Katter said he would not answer questions on the proposed voice to parliament because “they insult us as a race of people”. “Don’t you lead me into your rubbish, don’t you keep taking us on flights of fancy [with] your city lily pad lefty mindset,” he said. Speaking to Sky News on Thursday, Mr Katter defended his behaviour, saying “I think the day that I lose my passion is the day I’ll hang up my shoes and walk away”. “I wanted my intentions and rage to show yesterday,” he said. “If we black fellas are an identifiable race of people, we have the highest incarceration rates in the world, the lowest life expectancy for any race of people on Earth and the highest number of stolen children. “And you drag us down to have a fight over whether we should be in the constitution while we’re out there dying for the rights every other person on earth has.” Image: Getty
