This is our second speaker of our Spring 2026 Colloquium Series. In this talk, "Seeing Us in the Future of Design," Dr. Harrington explores how universal, accessible, and inclusive design can serve as a catalyst for health and racial equity. Drawing from her background in electrical engineering and industrial design, she discusses centering historically marginalized communities—including Black and Brown communities, older adults, and individuals with disabilities—to ensure they are seen and empowered in the future of technology. Key Topics: Community-based participatory research and co-creation. Design justice and eliminating social inequities. The intersection of interaction design, health, and racial equity. About the Speaker: Dr. Christina N. Harrington is a designer and qualitative researcher whose work addresses the barriers corporate approaches place on design as a universal language. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech ('09), a Master’s from NC State, and a Ph.D. in Design from Georgia Tech. ECE alum?
