Could Cataract Surgery Change Forever?!

Cataract surgery patients have been stuck with the same intraocular lens implant options for a while now. There are a variety of options that correct vision in different ways, but there are limitations to each type of lens implant. People are either limited to monofocal lenses that only correct for one distance at a time, multifocal lenses that correct multiple distances but often cause unwanted visual phenomena, or lenses that adjust automatically to focus at different distances but have a very limited range of focus. The GOOD news???…. A new lens, called OmniVu, has been greenlit to begin FDA trials in the US. This lens has two components. One corrects for distance, while the other is fluid-filled and uses the anatomy of the eye to move the fluid to change the focus of the lens as you focus on near objects. Even BETTER???… There are multiple other lenses that function similiarly currently in FDA trials. Perhaps if this lens does not make it through, at least one of them will?
