This does vary as some patients are really not badly swollen at all, while others will have a very large amount of swelling. Prior filler and other injectables for the lips play a big role and predispose to greater swelling for a longer time. Most patients that have not had filler in many years will resolve down to mild-moderate swelling at around day 5-7. At this point, the incision varies from a red line with some mild indentations from stitches, to a fine thin line. The incision matures and fades with each passing week. In some patients it is barely visible as early as 3 weeks, while others may have a thin faint red line for a couple of months that is concealed with makeup.
