Shoveling, skijoring, & sprint sled dogs! Fun break from twenty below zero temps in Fairbanks, AK.

Finally a break from the below zero temps, thanks to the snowstorm rolling in...and we got so much snow! Growing up in New England, the snow out here in Alaska is so dry and light so it's fairly easy to shovel. Some people even just use a leaf blower! First time ever skijoring behind a horse & rider thanks to Laila & her horse Saucy. Then took my mare Sedona out for a skijor - using a quick release snap for safety. Sedona is trained for driving so skijoring behind her is super fun! I grew up downhill and cross country skiing. I love skijoring behind dogs so taking Sedona out for a skijor is a fun change of pace and gives her some light work to do. Then another first this season - we are back on sleds for sprint dog training !!! Met up with Kristen in the evening where we ran a long train of 14 fast sprint sled dogs. These included quite a few yearlings and it was there first time pulling a sled! It can often feel different for them from running with the ATV to now pulling a sled so it is fun to see them kick it into high gear. I was on a tag sled behind Kristen so had more of a supportive safety role with so many dogs it can be safer to run with a second person to help. She wanted to see her yearlings run so we decided to run one big team instead of me taking out my own team that would've included yearlings. Hope you enjoy!!
