Over 1 kilo of heroin has been seized from them, worth more than ₹4 crore in the international market. The operation took place on August 29 in two phases. First, police arrested 23-year-old Afsana, a resident of Jahangirpuri. Around 300 grams of heroin was recovered from her. During interrogation, Afsana revealed details about her suppliers and the people she used to deliver the drugs to. Based on this information, police raided Burari and arrested 37-year-old Narendra and his 35-year-old wife Jyoti. Narendra was caught near the Transport Authority office, while Jyoti was taken into custody from their flat. When police searched the house, they found 712 grams of heroin hidden in different spots inside the flat. In total, heroin worth more than ₹4 crore has been seized. What’s shocking is that none of the three had any prior criminal record. This shows that even first-time offenders are getting trapped in the dangerous drug business. According to police officials, this network is much bigger, and the three arrested are only a small link in the chain. The search for the main suppliers and masterminds is still on, and more arrests are expected soon. In fact, Delhi is increasingly turning into a hub for drugs. Just a few days ago, Delhi Police busted two big drug syndicates and seized heroin and marijuana worth over ₹30 crore. This fresh case again highlights how the drug network is spreading into localities and even regular households. Police have assured that the crackdown against drugs will continue.
