Who do you know who wants a GYRO?!?! It's fast food in the CrockPot!!! Thats right you still can get that ~FAKE OUT TAKE OUT~ meal for the whole family, & its a hell of a lot cheaper too. My family loves this recipe we have this quite a bit in my household. Its also great for tailgating as well. My husband would consider this good ol Fake Out Take Out comfort food. And our sons would agree with their Dad. Where I live the grocery stores do not sell lamb. Then one of my most favorite Magazines of all time thanks to my grandma!!! tShe got me hooked into a local magazine that went national. You see she always gave a paid for a years subscription to all of the ladys in the family as a Christmas gift. Thats was from the 1st year & I continue it in her memory to this day!!! And I thank her still every year . . . Thank you Grandma this was in that magazine that you hooked me unto decades ago XOXO After getting nudged so much by the men in the family I broke down & tried out a beef version that I found in the magazine. WOW Boy was I SURPRISED . . .my family was thrilled that momma found a WINNER WINNER ITS WHATS FOR DINNER!!! So now I make it when its asked for. XOXO ~SLOW COOKER BEEF GYROS~ 1/2 cup beef broth 2-3 lbs chuck roast 1 dried minced onion 4 cloves dried garlic, minced 1 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ground pepper 3 tbsp lemon juice Put all ingredients into the crock pot & mix well. Put cover on & cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours. Then shred the beef roast all up. Other ingredients needed to assemble the GYRO . . . pita bread, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber for topping And for the Tzatziki sauce I just use the ~Hidden Valley Ranch Cucumber Salad Dressing~. When finished cooking, place meat on a pita and top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and sliced & diced cucumbers. You can drizzle homemade tzatziki (see instructions below) or cucumber ranch dressing. Enjoy XOXO Happy Seasons Eatings Y'all. ~The Pleasure Lady~ of Teasers Pleasers Kitchen
