🎓 UNITE! Sustainable Mobility Forum – Lecture Series 2025/26 🌍 Topic: Urban Cableways 👤 Speaker: Prof. Bruno Dalla Chiara (Politecnico di Torino) 🗓️ Friday, October 31, 2025 | 🕐 13:00–14:00 CEST Could cableways be the next big step in sustainable urban mobility? In this talk, Prof. Bruno Dalla Chiara explores urban cableway systems as a high-capacity, energy-efficient, and space-saving alternative for urban transport. These systems, often overlooked in modern mobility planning, offer a compelling solution to connect areas where traditional infrastructure struggles—such as hilly or congested urban environments. The session presents the main typologies, design principles, and dimensioning guidelines for cableways in cities. It also examines their role in reducing emissions and reclaiming public space, providing a multi-criteria perspective that blends engineering efficiency, sustainability, and urban integration. 🎤 Key topics include: ✔️ Overview of urban cableway system types ✔️ Design and dimensioning guidelines ✔️ Energy efficiency and environmental benefits ✔️ Capacity, safety, and spatial performance ✔️ Regulatory and planning references Prof. Dalla Chiara is an internationally recognized expert in transport systems and sustainable mobility, coordinating research within ITS EDUNET and the RUS Mobility Group (Network of Universities for Sustainable Development). 🔗 Learn more about the series: Series page: https://www.verkehr.tu-darmstadt.de/v...
