Poland’s most controversial landmark, the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, just turned 70. Gifted by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in 1955, the 237-meter skyscraper remains the tallest building in Poland—and one of the most debated symbols of Soviet influence in Eastern Europe. Built by over 3,500 Soviet workers—many of whom never returned home—the palace houses more than 3,000 rooms and includes cinemas, theaters, offices, and museums. While some Poles view it as a relic of communist oppression, others consider it an architectural and cultural landmark. Today, it remains a striking part of Warsaw’s skyline, even as the city grows around it. In this video, we explore the history, symbolism, and the ongoing public debate around Stalin’s towering “gift” to Poland. #poland #stalin #apt
