After the BBC sent out what locals deemed unfair reports from flood-struck Henan Province in central China, suspicions easily fell on any foreigner there who looked like they might be a journalist. Luckily, I was able to chat in Mandarin with anyone who had any doubts or suspicions about me, and afterwards I was invited in to see some desperate struggles against Mother Nature that the BBC and other foreign media were not given access to.
