It has two parts, a front cover with integrated plastic film screen cover, and a rear part that surrounds it with rubber and includes a fold out kickstand. The directions for the case are a little funky in that they tell you how to assemble the case before they tell you how to disassemble it (and it ships assembled around a piece of foam), but once you figure out that there is a small notch in the lower right corner, and if you pull the back/bottom part away from the top/screen part there you can pull the two halves off relatively easily. It fits my Tab A8 perfectly, with cutouts for the front cameras and light sensors, the speakers, mic, reset port, rear camera, 3.5mm audio jack, and three rubber buttons for the power and volume up/down all perfectly positioned. The only note I have is that the hole around the 3.5mm headphone jack is round, so your headphone cable can't have a super big square piece of plastic on it and still work with this case. But most "normal" headphone wires will work just fine. All of my USB-C cables also work fine. The case ads about 2-3x thickness to the tablet, but only a half inch to the width and height (from the rubber bumpers). The larger edges and rubber material make the tablet case much easier to hold on to than the bare tablet, and the rubber around the tablet will give it a good amount of protection from a minor fall. The screen is protected from scratches and gunk by the film cover, but if it were to fall on a spiked object screen first instead of hitting the rubber edge bumpers, I expect the screen would still break. The kickstand works well, in portrait or landscape orientation. I use my tablet outside in the dark, and I've already scratched the protective film of the case (saving my tablet screen) so I'm very glad I installed it. The price point feels very fair for the protection you get.
