International Organization - The Decline of American Global Hegemony and the Return of Multipolarity

Has four years of Donald Trump weakened the US's international position abroad? Will a Biden Presidency restore American authority and position, or is the relative decline of American global hegemony proportional to the rise of other powers like China, Russia, Iran, and even organizations like the European Union? This lecture examines not just the decline of American unipolarism, but the understanding that unipolarism as a system of power is short lived, and oftentimes "balanced out" in one way or another by other international interests. The only problem with a decline unipolar hegemon is that its weakening leverage is perceived to be the sign of rival powers instead of a natural balancing act, and tends to exacerbate efforts by said declining power to attempt to regain elements of its former stature and leverage, which in turn tends to accelerate its decline faster. This lecture concludes that while the United States is no longer a unipolar power, it will remain a major global power - along with other major global powers - for the foreseeable future.
