Full flight | Porter Embraer E195-E2 | PD262 Vancouver to Ottawa (C-GZQM)

Welcome onboard my first flight on the Embraer E2! On 10 March 2025, I traveled from Vancouver via Ottawa to Halifax on Porter Airlines for a week to host and co-facilitate the Motivate Canada ViaYouth Summit, a youth leadership conference! This was my first time hosting a whole event (as opposed to partially before like in Frayme) and I had a great time and made new friends, and enjoyed Halifax a lot. Getting onboard the Embraer E2 the first time, I definitely felt a huge sense of transformation compared to the older Embraer 170/175/190/195 interior. It is much brighter, and through clever shape-sculpting of the sidewalls and overhead bins, Embraer did a great job at making the cabin feel more spacious. The PW1900G engines sound almost identical to those on the Airbus A220, and the seats were comfortable too. On the flight, I got the yogurt breakfast on the buy-on-board menu, and I enjoyed it lots. Most of the flight was cloudy, which is something we obviously cannot control, but I still film full flights regardless because I want to share my enjoyment and passion into the feeling of flight. Porter from its inception in 2006 until early 2023, operated exclusively the De Havilland Dash 8 Q400 out of Toronto Billy Bishop Airport. In 2021, the airline placed a large order that now total several dozen Embraer E195-E2, and with their delivery starting in 2023, they underwent a massive transformation that includes starting a hub at Toronto Pearson and expanded flights into Western Canada, as well as other lightly-travelled point-to-point routes that do not involve Toronto. However, our journey to Halifax wasn't exactly smooth sailing; just after landing I got a text message saying that my onward flight to Halifax on a Q400 got canceled. After some back and forths with the flight attendant and the check-in agent in Ottawa, they rebooked me via Toronto, on two more E2 flights, arriving into Halifax at 2 am the next day. Out of my 25 years of flying, this was the first time I've ever had a flight cancelled. But despite this, and the fact I no longer had the chance to go on a Porter Q400, I got to Halifax safely, which is what is most important.
