VN24 - 25-05-2022 - Dortmund / Germany - After a serious traffic accident on the A2 freeway near Dortmund-Mengede, the roadway has been fully closed at the height of the freeway junction Dortmund-Nordwest in the eastbound direction at about 9 a.m. One person was seriously injured in the accident. A 54-year-old also from Germany recognized the situation in time and also braked with his special suction and flushing tanker. For reasons that have not yet been explained, a 44-year-old man from Macedonia apparently recognized this too late and drove his semi-trailer truck onto the tanker. The semitrailer then collided with the central guard rail and came to a halt there. The 54-year-old's tanker was initially pushed onto the 58-year-old's waiting truck by the force of the impact. From there, the tanker was deflected, rolled over the roof once and came to rest on its side in the crash barrier. The tanker driver was seriously injured and the driver from Macedonia slightly injured in the accident. Both were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance. The eastbound lane had to remain closed until 7 p.m. for recovery and cleanup work.
