McLaren M8B Model Build: Episode 4 – Suspension Struggles & Flex-Fighting Fitment! Welcome back to the workbench—where it’s uncut, unedited, and all about the build! In this episode, we dive into Step 3 of the Accurate Miniatures 1:24 scale McLaren M8B, and it turns out the hardest step might not be behind us after all… 📦 What’s going down in this episode: 🛠️ Rear suspension arm installation – sounds easy, right? 🔧 Motor mount interference and mysterious flexing headers ⚙️ Coilover shocks, fragile connections & lots of dry-fitting 🎯 Paint-destroying glue, alignment chaos, and a whole lotta patience 📏 Discovering an eighth-inch error in the header pipes (!!!) Building Progress & Real Talk Everything was looking great—until it wasn’t. As I tried to install the rear coilovers, I realized one of the headers is sitting way too far back, completely blocking the shock mount. After lots of checking, measuring, and struggling, I confirmed: the pipes are too long by about 1/8 inch, and the collector is completely out of position. I walk through the whole process in real-time: misalignment discoveries, gluing messes, header wrestling, and finally making the decision to rip it all back out and fix it off-camera between episodes.
