I'm pretty sure I'd vaguely thought about arranging this piece a while ago, but sometimes you need a good kick to get it done - in this case, that was a request in the comments of my last Halo arrangement. I can't promise to do every request that comes my way, but I do intend to at least listen to it and give it some thought. I think part of what I love about this particular piece is how it manages to straddle tension and hope, sometimes at the exact same time. It probably emulates the kind of feeling the Master Chief would have exerted on his allies as he arrives on the scene. The fact that the single note that is played over and over again never gets boring is also pretty cool, likely assisted by the changing meters. Special thanks to my father for once again playing Timpani for me!
