UNODC-WCO-CCP Drugs and Precursors

Organized crime groups are generating tens of billions of dollars from the cross-border trafficking and smuggling of illegal drugs and precursors which are used to make drugs or explosives. Law enforcement officers and Customs officials need knowledge and tools to identify these illicit goods. The training that UNODC-WCO-CCP provides is focused on how to counter all the emerging challenges: new trafficking routes, new chemicals, new types of drugs, new concealment methods, different modus operandi which are used by the drug trafficking organized crime. UNODC-WCO-CCP sees the results at Port Control Units and Air Cargo Control Units which have been properly trained and which have proper expertise in this area. It takes time, but the results are impressive. Since the launch of the programme, CCP-supported Port Control Units and Air Cargo Control Units have seized over 340 metric tons of cocaine, 7 tons of heroin, 70 metric tons of cannabis and 1800 metric tons of precursors for drugs and explosives. CCP Drugs and Precursors activities are currently supported by Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
