Evaluating the XTool D9S Pro tablet and comparing it to the XTool A30M dongle. Before I bought any dongles or scan tools, I had watched a lot of videos in an attempt to make the best decision I could when I finally did buy one. With that in mind, it would be impossible to demonstrate every single capability of any given scan tool device in one video, not to mention no scan tool can perform every function on every vehicle from every manufacturer, so I am trying to make videos using tablets and dongles on the vehicles that come in my shop in order to help in your decision making process. Now that I own two tablets along with three dongles, and I have had the chance to use all of them, depending on what your needs are, not only are dongles capable of close to the same, if not the same, diagnostic procedures, they are vastly cheaper than a tablet. I have the XTool A30M, the Thinktool Thinkdiag 2, and the Topdon Topscan Pro. So far they all appear to be just as capable as the others with none performing better than the other. That being said, it comes down to price and cost of the subscription to keep them operational. You can buy the Topdon Topscan Lite for $59 and the subscription is $49 a year, the Topdon Topscan Pro is $99 and $99 a year subscription. The Thinktool Thinkdiag 2 is $159 and $99.95 a year subscription, and the XTool A30M is $159 but it has lifetime updates. I am not sponsored by any of the scan tool manufactures and I purchased all of the devices I review with my own money. Any links directly to the manufacturer's website are not affiliate links and I do not receive any compensation if you use the links. I provide them as a courtesy. I am an Amazon affiliate, just like everybody else, and I do receive a small commission if you do use those links at no extra cost to you, but it is appreciated more than words can describe. In my humble opinion, never buy a scan tool tablet from anywhere other than directly from the manufacturer's website. If you buy one from Amazon as an example, you will not be able to get support directly from the manufacturer, you will have to go through the Amazon seller. You have been warned.
