Finally a video on Maneuvering Energy Retention (MER)! Partly inspired by a discussion on Discord. Maneuvering Energy Retention is a hidden aircraft performance characteristic which is a measure of how much energy the turning aircraft is conserving. Aircraft with good MER will bleed less speed when turning, which is usually good for the performance of the aircraft in general. There's a lot of opinions going around about which aircraft have good or bad MER, and what better way to determine the truth than by testing? An entire video can be spent on the physics of MER and it can get quite complex, but tests never fail. Questions and critics of this test are welcome! Who will win, Spitfire LF Mk IX or Ta152H? **IMPORTANT: The Spitfire did not have 150 octane fuel in this test (reference model doesn't include that mod...). Test was redone and the Spitfire is only 70% instead of 87% worse than the Ta152H (spreadsheet has been changed as well). My apologies.** New video every Friday! Subscribe for more!
