This relaxing afternoon walk is around the lovely town of Llanwrst in North Wales, which is nestled in the Conwy Valley and sits along the River Conwy. Llanwrst was developed around the wool trade and for a while the price of wool for the whole of Britain was set here. In the 13th century the village grew with help from Edward I of England. He had built nearby Conwy Castle and had prohibited any Welshman from trading within 10 miles of Conwy town, as Llanwrst was located 13 miles from the town it benefited greatly from this. The Grade I listed church of St Grwst's was built in the late 15th century. The Gwyfir chapel was added in 1633-1634 and contains the stone coffin of Llewellyn the Great, the 13th century Prince of Gwynedd. The beautiful three arched stone bridge of Pont Faw (also known as Llanwrst bridge) was built around 1636 and is also a Grade I listed building. It leads across the river to Tu Hwnt i'r Bont (beyond the bridge) which, once a residential house then a courthouse, is now a traditional Welsh tea room and owned by the National Trust. Built in 1480 it is actually a lot older than the bridge it stands next to. The house is very popular with tourists as the ivy that covers it changes colour with the seasons. We finish our walk on the bank of the River Conwy overlooking the town and the lovely bridge. If you enjoyed our video please give us a like and hit the subscribe button.
