This is the best preserved Greek temple in mainland Italy, and it was a treat to paint this alla prima sketch of it last summer. Important themes in this painting were how we can stack different modes of drawing to achieve a visual approach to perspective, using a tone and blocking in the large relationships of color to capture the big impression, and then diving into the details and talking about how we have to shift our mindset in order to expand our perception.
