Drum Majors lead the Scottish Pipe Bands over river Dee marching to 2023 Ballater Games in Scotland

Honorary leading Drum Major Ian Esson leading the Drum Majors and eight combined Pipe Bands over the river Dee bridge into Ballater. This was on Thursday 10th August 2023 as the bands started their march through the town to the 2023 Ballater Highland Games in Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Ahead of the parade was Scott Fraser, one of the local Invercauld Highlanders. The Drum Majors are Robb Cumming, Bert Summers, Bill Barclay, Fiona Glennie, Neil Jamieson, Rob Brownfield, Phillip Michie, Ronnie Rennie, Fraser Dyer and Derek Dean. The bands taking part included Ballater & District Pipe Band, Granite City Pipes & Drums, Aberlour & Community Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Towie Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, Lathallan School Pipe Band, Culter & District 47th Boy’s Brigade, and members of Dalhousie Pipe Band from Switzerland and Blacksmith Pipers of Lower Austria (Vienna). The bands were playing Green Hills of Tyrol, When the Battle's o'er and Lochanside. Marching in from was the Ballater Games Vice-Chairman Scott Fraser wearing the uniform of the reformed Invercauld Highlanders, making their first public appearance in over eight decades.
